On Tuesday 30 May Steven Agnew, MLA and leader of the Green Party visited Erne Integrated College along with Tanya Jones, local Green Party candidate.
They met with our school biodiversity group to discuss a number of initiatives taking place in the school including the planting of a wild flower meadow. They took time to talk to Year 9 student, Dara McAnulty who recently appeared on Radio 4’s Tweet of the Day.
They also met a representative group of students who were able to explain to Steven Agnew what an enriching experience it is to attend the only integrated post primary school in Fermanagh. The students asked Steven Agnew and Tanya Jones some very pertinent questions in relation to fracking, voting rights for young people and Brexit.
The visit finished off with a meeting with the Principal, Jimmy Jackson-Ware, Eoin McGinn, School Bursar and Dr Gerry Mackin, Chair of the Board of Governors Finance Subcommittee. They briefed Steven Agnew and Tanya Jones on the financial challenges facing all schools.
